Harveer Sahni is a legendary figure in the global label industry, currently serving as the Chairman of Weldon Celloplast Limited, a company he established in 1982 to pioneer self-adhesive technologies in India. A chemistry graduate by training, Mr. Sahni transformed his father’s 1939-founded stationery business into a modern industrial powerhouse, becoming one of the first in India to manufacture self-adhesive BOPP tapes and siliconized release liners. Over his nearly five-decade career, he has acted as a vital bridge between the Indian and international label fraternities, famously facilitating the entry of Labelexpo to India and serving as an influential board member of the Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI).

His contributions have been recognized with the industry’s highest honors, including the prestigious R. Stanton Avery Global Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022—making him the only Indian to date to receive this global distinction. Beyond manufacturing, Mr. Sahni is widely known as a prolific writer and industry chronicler; his blog, “Self-adhesive Labels Industry in India and the World,” has amassed nearly a million views, serving as a critical reference for technical knowledge and historical records.
