Dr. Alka Rao is Advisor (Science, Standards & Regulations) at the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. She leads the development of national food safety standards and regulations and represents India internationally as the Codex Contact Point and WTO-SPS Enquiry Point. A trained protein engineer and molecular microbiologist, she has over 15 years of research experience, with numerous scientific publications and patents, and plays a key role in aligning India’s food safety framework with global best practices.
