Mr. Deepak Mishra

Shri Deepak Mishra is a distinguished member of the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) from the 1996 batch, Kerala cadre, currently serving as the Joint Secretary (Petrochemicals) in the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held pivotal roles in the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department and esteemed national institutions such as the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) and the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in Dehradun. In his current capacity, he provides strategic oversight to the Petrochemicals Division, spearheading transformative initiatives like the development of Plastic Parks, the National Awards for Technology Innovation, and the Poly India project.

His leadership is central to enhancing India’s global footprint in the sector, where he manages complex policy frameworks including Quality Control Orders (QCOs), Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and the Petrochemicals Perspective Plan.

A strong advocate for sustainability and industry-academia synergy, Shri Mishra actively oversees the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) and the Institute of Pesticide Formulation and Technology (IPFT), driving advancements in Circular Economy practices and plastic waste management. His commitment to the “Make in India” vision is reflected in his efforts to align national standards with international benchmarks, ensuring the domestic industry remains competitive while maintaining a focus on environmental stewardship.
