In recent days, it is observed that a few of the major socio-economic factors like globalization, liberalization, an increase in literacy resulting in the growing health consciousness, the increase in purchasing power due to the rise of dual income groups, consumerism, and more working women have led to an increase in demand for ready-to-eat food, the booming retail market, etc. These factors have significantly driven the demand for packaging materials. This has prompted the industry to enhance production capacities by focusing on innovation in processing technology and the development of efficient packaging materials, improving mechanical properties, barrier properties, optical properties, and upgrading functional properties of packaging materials to meet international market demands.
